Best selling author Sarah Oliver was searching for a children’s book illustrator that could bring her jungle characters to life. Sarah’s plan was to publish a picture book aimed at children in early year education, a book that would be perfect to read in the run up to world book day.

With my experience in character design and animation, I relished the opportunity to collaborate with Sarah on what came to be a successful children’s book. (The Best World Book Week Ever).

The book tells the story of Danny the monkey and his jungle friends, it relates greatly to ‘World Book Day’ and is aimed to inspire children at home and in schools to pick up a book and read a story. The story includes activities such as a hidden book worm character and bananas to count throughout.

Created in Illustrator using vector shapes (vector art) the characters and settings were designed in Adobe Illustrator using skills and techniques that would usually be used by graphic designers.

Being both a graphic designer and animator has its advantages, I was able to pose the characters, create a environment and visually tell the story in a way that would engage the young readers.  The book is available to purchase online and in stores nationwide. Sarah and I are delighted to announce that due to the success of the book, there will be plenty more children’s books to come in the near future.
